Is it okay to wear a wig?

Sarah Nielsen

There are differences in how people feel about wearing a wig. If wearing wigs is a part of your everyday life, it may be hard to imagine life without one, but for some, wearing a wig is a new venture that can come with some uncertainty.

Wearing a wig for the first time can bring up so many emotions regardless of the reason for doing so. But often any change to your physical appearance will result in an emotional change.

Many wig wearers feel that wearing a wig makes them feel like a fraud. This has nothing to do with it. Wearing wigs is okay.

There are many benefits to wearing wigs, especially when it comes to your self-esteem. Here are just a few of the benefits of wearing a wig, and then it's up to you to decide if it's okay to wear a wig (although of course it is 😉)

Wigs can make your relationship with your natural hair even better

You suddenly have the opportunity to give your natural hair a break from the straightener, hair dye, etc. See your wig as an accessory, not as something that should hide who you are.

The mature part of the population is not the only one who loses hair; young people also lose hair due to stress, illness, excessive use of heat, bleaching, etc. Thanks to wigs, you can also keep your hair loss private if it is important. You can let your hair grow back without using heat and other harmful styling methods, which can damage your hair and prevent it from growing back.

If you're not okay with wearing wigs, ask yourself what the real reason is.

Do you think it will interfere with your natural hair growth?

Are you afraid you won't look good in one?

Are you afraid of being judged?

You will likely realize that anything stopping you is a myth or misconception by answering these questions.

Overall, you can always look at it like this; you protect your hair when you wear a wig and you have the best hair in town if that's where you most often wear/want to wear a wig 😉
